I got Jaws 11 in the mail today. So, you jaws users out their, their is a new version.

Posted by Drummer2 on 11/24/2009 at 12:51 AMYeah, I received the DVD in the mail as well, but discovered it stupid that Freedom Scientific would waste their time sending
shipments in the mail, when they have it available for download anyway!! If you already have an older version of Jaws installed on your computer, it is possible to just configure the screen reader software to notify you of recent updates, allowing you the freedom to download them at a later date. I really enjoy the Research It feature, granting me instant access to weather information, without the constant hassel of working with rigorous, inaccessible web pages. Do not bother upgrading Jaws, unless you have Windows 7, since this is what the new build is mainly intended for. Did you realize that you can back up all of the data on a Windows computer system, restoring it to factory settings without deleting anything? Yeah, it is not system restore though!!! You can use the Back Up utility under Windows XP Pro and Vista, (If you have XP Home, you would need to install the utility from the CD. Anyway, whenever your computer encounters a virus, providing that speech output from the screen reading package of your choosing still proves reliable, you can completely delete your local profile, and reinstall all programs without losing anything. If you guys have Skype, we could use this as an alternative method of communicating with each other. As most of you know, Skype is free and is available for download at http://www.skype. com Ensure that you do not choose Skype four point one, as scriptsare still being developed for Jaws!
How do you guys interact with a Word Document? I usually read with standard reading commands, but type words together.

Nvda is a free screen reader. I was going to get jaws but it costs a lot of money. So i decided to get nvda.

The BrailleIn, which lets you use a braille keyboard to control Windows and application specific commands, they say "you no longer have to switch between your computer’s keyboard and your display’s keyboard, or enter a special typing mode in order to use contracted braille to run your computer or programs"
This could be a very good time-saving feature.
