Contacting our friends on AFB

I was just wondering, since we are not allowed to post our email addresses or phone numbers on here, is there a way we can become "pen pals"? emailing or texting maybe? or even mailing short letters?

what about if we had our own little profile thing like on facebook and we have a message section? and email that way?

what about an AFB mobile app??
browse
add a subject
comment on a post
send a message
etc.

I am always traveling and would like to be able to keep in contact with my friends on here while i am traveling.

It would also be nice to meet each other in person, but we all live so far away from each other. :(

Hello crew!

I just wanted to try and answer some of the questions. We try our best to create a safe area for you guys. Posting your information makes that difficult. Most of you are under the age of 18 and even if you are older. It is smart not to share your personal information online. Say you post your email address, a person could probably google that and find out a lot more information about you. They can contact you and misrepresent who they are, very easily. I am just saying, please be safe. We try our best to keep TeenConnect safe for your use. By posting your info in other areas, you are opening yourself up to issues. I know you all are smart and can block people on your email and such, but it would be smart to not allow such situations.

AFB is preparing to open some "Facebook-like" features to allow users more access and customized features. It will start in specific areas and then be expanded other areas. It is not too far off.

There are some "apps" being discussed as well.

I should have said I didn't want anyone to post their email address. Sorry.

What kind of "apps"? like iphone apps?
I also think we need a section that shows who is online, but ONLY when you are logged in, so outsiders can't see who is online or not.
It would be nice to have an IM chat type thing.
And maybe organize the threads, say, music stuff in one
O&M and guide dogs in another etc. that way it is not one long website and everything is grouped together but in that cat. it has its own threads in it, make sense?

Last question...for now...
When will afb be upgrading the site?

It is still a ways off for this part of our websites. It could be 6 months, but most likely a year or so.

They have spoken about a number of apps. (like for the iPhone), but I haven't heard any specific yet.

I agree about the reorganization, that is a good idea.
