bored
Posted by d caramel on 6/28/2011 at 8:21 PM
Hello everyone4
I'm writing this from my braillenote. I've been so bored since I've finished my bus transition program. I've been on the internet lately and emailing people. I also renewed my application for the Slate Pals program. I dont know how long it will take until I get a new slate pal. But it should be soon. I have to go retake my math TAKS test on July 12th. I'm also going to try to get my Texas State ID this summer. But what I really need to do is go visit some colleges, so I can start filling out college applications for next year.
There's also not much going on on Facebook. So it's just boring.
How are yall keeping entertained this summer? Anything fun happen?

Posted by Wingman on 6/29/2011 at 10:09 AMHi
I'm competing in a novel writing competition during the month of july. I went to the beach after school went back and have been back a few weeks i hope to go back before summers over . My lab was bit by a snake last week but is doing a lot better now.
Have you seen any good movies lately?
i saw the green lantern the other week its better than expected and i predict Transformers and Harry Potter are going to be awesome.
What exactly is a slate pal?
Re:bored
Posted by d caramel on 6/29/2011 at 2:47 PMI want to see the lantern! The last movie i saw was Madea's Big Happy Family.
When you sign up for a slate pal, you get matched with a person from anywhere in the world that shares some of the same interests you like. No matter if there blind or if there sighted and are interested in learning braille. You just send braille letters back and forth through the mail. Matter of fact I still talk to one of my past slate pals on the phone sometimes. She's from los angelous.
I'm sorry to hear about your lab. I hope she's getting the best of care.

Posted by Wingman on 6/29/2011 at 8:11 PMIt's so so Dracula and the invisible man are scarier it's sort of like a bizarre hate crime
It was great though I recommend it
Guess what my tape player broke so unfortunately I won't get to read Jaws before the 4th and I was so ready for a summer horror story which iBooks and VoiceOver will work well till it's fixed
Re:bored
Posted by d caramel on 6/29/2011 at 9:19 PMThat's horrible that your tape player broke! They have a good sumer contest on www.bookshare.org. As soon as I get my registration for it. I'm going to try to get in that contest.
Re:bored
Posted by Wingman on 6/29/2011 at 11:14 PMSounds cool I've been working on getting an account there as well
And as soon as I get my eye report in the mail I plan to start learning Braille and other skills I'm not going to wait on my school any more
The local school for the blind in my area is holding a contest too I wonder where the book log went
What is your favorite book?
Re:bored
Posted by d caramel on 6/29/2011 at 11:53 PMMaybe the slate pals thing can help you start learning braille. You can ask someone to write to you the alphabets and numbers in grade 1 braille.
My favorite book is called Kendra.
Re:bored
Posted by Wingman on 6/30/2011 at 1:11 AMCool
What's Kendra about?
Re:bored
Posted by Thrill Monster on 6/30/2011 at 11:45 AMMy favorite book is called Tom and Bear: The Story of a Guide Dog Team. I used to have a tape slayer but mine broke too so I can't listen to audio books anymore.
Re:bored
Posted by d caramel on 6/30/2011 at 12:31 PMKendra is about a fourteen-year-old girl who is living with her grandma and gets gets caught up in boy problems. Even though her mom had her at fourteen her grandma is a little suspicious of her and sends her to live with her mom.
