Hi, my name is Austin, and I live in Florida. I'm not blind myself, nor do I know anyone who is visually impaired. I do wear glasses, but that doesn't count for much. lol I would love to meet visually impaired people around here!

Posted by Joe S on 7/1/2011 at 8:14 AMHello Austin!
I am Joe and I am staff at AFB. You could meet persons your age who are visually impaired in your local schools or even through your local community rehabilitation provider. All depends where in Florida you are -- there is a lighthouses and such in Tampa, St. Pete, Tallahassee, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm, Orlando, and other areas might have a different name such as in Jacksonville, Pensacola, Daytona, and others.
But, this is a great place to meet some great teens with visual impairments. We have a great group here that share and advise each other.
I hope you find what you are looking for! I wis you the best! And, everyone, have a great 4th of July weekend!!!!!
Sincerely,
Joe S.

Thanks for replying and for the happy 4th of july weekend wishes. :) Annalee, I'm sorry to hear that, I read about it online and it seems like it would be pretty uncomfortable to live with. Joe, I didnt know that, thank you. And Lindsay, I like to read and write just about anything(except for college papers that is), and well, I don't know about a favorite movie, per se, but I love a fair few. Ferris Bueller's Day Off, I am Legend, Green Lantern, Back to the Future, Im good for about any movie you can think of. lol

Posted by Brie96 on 7/14/2011 at 5:10 PMHi! My name is Gabriella, I am 15 and I am new here to. I have Lebers Congenital Amourosis.
Re:Hello, I'm new here.
Posted by Thrill Monster on 7/14/2011 at 7:20 PMI've never heard of that condition. Any symptoms?
Re:Hello, I'm new here.
Posted by Brie96 on 7/15/2011 at 12:24 PMMost people get it at birth or in the first few months of life. cense it's congenital, it's caused by a defect in a gene. It's really rare and I've heard it's more common in boys than girls, but I don't know if that's true. I can see a little bit of light but not much and I can't see shadows. I think Some people with lebers can see shadows, but I have cataracts so I can't.

Posted by Devin Prater on 4/8/2012 at 10:25 AMHappy Easter to you all.
My name is Devin. I am from Alabama. I believe I have ROP, but not exactly sure. I do know as fact that I was born prematurely, at one pound, six ounces. I haven't been on here much, because I forgot my username and password, but I got it today so now I'm catching up on what people have been talking about here. There doesn't seem to be much going on in this board.
Re: Hello, I'm new here.
Posted by Thrill Monster on 11/21/2012 at 1:31 PMThat's for sure.
