Multimedia Transcript 0:08 Man: Hello, I'm Tom Perski, Senior Vice President of Rehabilitation Services here at
0:14 The Chicago Lighthouse. Today we're going to be looking at a Low Vision International product
0:20 called the MagniLink S. It's a brand new product that they have and there are several versions of this product
0:25 which we're going to review today. This product is a MagniLink S that hooks to both a computer monitor
0:36 and a laptop, or a television set so it gives you the flexibility of doing all of those three connections.
0:45 The company also makes a MagniLink S that only hooks to a television set.
1:10 Man: This is a USB 3 camera, which is very powerful and very quick so on the TTS, if you
1:18 were to capture a page it starts to read within one second.
1:24 Some of the capabilities of this camera are, see if I show you some of the button functions here, is the
1:36 power button is here and there's a brightness up and down, these are all also tactile buttons so they
1:44 really are pretty easy to feel. This button here is for focus lock which, when you're writing and you don't want
1:52 it to focus on your hand but on the paper and you have an easy way to go up and down with
1:58 magnification levels. Then other buttons show and I'm going to bring it back to some
2:08 text to show you the line marker functions because these are pretty advanced also. They give you the
2:15 capability of doing windows or what we call masking text, both vertically and horizontally as well as
2:25 being able to do line markers both horizontally and vertically. Just by keeping your hand
2:32 on that same button you can control them easily to get them on and off the screen, backwards and forwards.
2:45 The last two buttons are full color at the bottom and it gives you a bright, brilliant color, as well as the
2:54 one right next to it would give you the false colors so that persons who need more contrast and can
3:04 benefit from colors on the screen like this one for instance, black on yellow, is a very bright text.
3:11 There are many versions of each color both in the positive mode and in the negative mode.
3:21 And then just simply, if there's a particular mode a person is reading in for text and then they
3:28 want to go back to the regular screen, just simply hitting the color button brings you right back.
3:34 This camera rotates and there's a close up lens so if a student wants to be able to see the
3:41 blackboard he can just simply remove the close up lens from the camera and rotate it in many different
3:50 directions to shoot across the room, again this one in high-definition, it does a terrific job.
3:59 This Student Edition fits in a nice carrying case and is available here at The Chicago Lighthouse
