Comparing American Community Survey 1-year data with other data: Generally, American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates can be compared with other ACS 1-year data. However, since ACS variables change over time, some areas and subjects must be compared with caution, or not compared at all. In this instance, the 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 ACS 1-year estimates are comparable because the vision loss variable was written the same in the 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 ACS instruments.
