Dear Friends:
I congratulate everyone gathered here today on the grand opening of the new American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) TECH office and laboratory. It is with great pride that I supported funding for this extremely worthy endeavor.
This facility, based right here in Huntington, West Virginia, has the potential to do enormous good for vision-impaired people all over the world. What a wonderful contribution by the people of our state!
AFB TECH has been on a crusade, and the past nine years have yielded enormous progress. The independence that comes with workforce skills allows vision-impaired people to reach their full potential, and their contribution adds incredible value to our national and international strength. It is an inspirational experience to witness the personal dignity which comes with self-sufficiency and confidence.
I am honored to have been able to be of some assistance with this magnificent effort. Again, I congratulate everyone on the opening of this new facility, and I wish ABF (sic.) TECH great success in the coming years.
With warm regards, I am
Sincerely yours,
Robert C. Byrd
