AFB's FamilyConnect® offers a virtual lifeline to parents of children with visual impairments. We provide information and resources, and host an online community where families find support, comfort and help.

Braille Bug® and the Helen Keller Kids Museum Online teaches sighted children about braille and to encourage literacy among all children, sighted and visually impaired.
Students and Young Adults

AFB CareerConnect® promotes employment for teenagers and adults who are blind or visually impaired. The site helps students exploring careers, job seekers investigating work options, employers planning to diversify their workforce.

AFB Scholarship Awards—AFB provides more than $25,000 each year to help deserving students with visual impairments attend college.

Adults

The AFB Center on Vision Loss, located in Dallas, Texas, helps people with vision loss make simple adaptations, learn new skills, and regain the confidence needed for independent living, through its unique demonstration and information center.

VisionAware™ helps adults who are losing their sight continue to live full and independent lives by providing timely information, step-by-step daily living techniques, a directory of national and local services, and a supportive online community.
Blindness Professionals

AFB Press leads in publishing texts in the field of blindness and visual impairment, and helps develop and encourage new authors and scholarship.

Our Journal of Visual Impairment & Blindness keeps professionals and students up-to-date on the major developments and trends in the field of visual impairment and blindness.

Educational Opportunities—We provide advanced training opportunities, hosting national conferences and webinars, for professionals who serve visually impaired people (teachers, occupational therapists, home health care workers, etc.).

Public Policy

Our public policy and advocacy team works to protect the rights of those living with blindness and visual impairments by focusing on federal and state programs affecting health care, education, and rehabilitation of blind persons, as well as laws that relate to economic status and civil rights.
AFB Tech

AFB Tech ensures that consumers with low vision understand how to choose accessible everyday products such as cell phones, as well as life-saving devices such as glucose monitors. In addition, we evaluate assistive technology and help software developers, website designers, and hardware manufacturers to better understand and address the needs of those who are blind or visually impaired.

AFB's Information Center

AFB's Information Center (800-232-5463; afbinfo@afb.net) responds to more than 10,000 inquiries each year from blind and visually impaired people, their families, and professionals in the field.
Helen Keller Archives

AFB maintains more than 250 artifacts and tens of thousands of documents donated by Helen Keller in our archives and on display in our Helen Keller Gallery. These treasures are available to students, scholars, researchers and the general public. We are working to preserve the archives by converting them to a digital format to be accessed by any computer anywhere in the world.
