As adults age, it is not uncommon for some to experience a decline in vision and hearing. In fact, it is estimated that 8-10% of adults age 55 and better experience both losses. However, this does not have to mean a loss of independence or quality of life. The videos in this section feature Mary, a person with hearing and vision loss, and Paige Berry, Coordinator of the Senior Adult Program at the Helen Keller National Center. Mary and Paige describe and demonstrate adaptive techniques and devices that have allowed Mary to maintain her independence, communicate effectively, and remain safe in her home and community.
