Biography: Rona L. Pogrund

Rona L. Pogrund, Ph.D., COMS, is a private consultant in visual impairment in Austin, Texas. She was previously Associate Professor in the Division of Special Education and Director of the Orientation & Mobility Specialist Training Program at California State University, Los Angeles. Dr. Pogrund is the co-editor of the first edition of Early Focus: Working with Young Blind and Visually Impaired Children and Their Families and the co-author of TAPS: Teaching Age-Appropriate Purposeful Skills: An Orientation and Mobility Curriculum for Students with Visual Impairments. In addition, she has co-authored book chapters and articles and made numerous presentations on preschool orientation and mobility, advocacy issues, and students with multiple disabilities. She has worked as an orientation and mobility specialist, a teacher of students who are visually impaired, and a special education administrator.
