Description of Journal of Visual Impairment & Blindness (JVIB) July-August 2013, Vol. 107., No. 4
The July-August issue features the final publication by a giant in the research of neuroplasticity of the brain and how it relates to vision. Dr. James E. Jan, best known for his groundbreaking work that contributed enormously to the field's discussion of the nature of cortical visual impairment, and colleagues contributed the article, entitled "Windows into the Visual Brain: New Discoveries About the Visual System, Its Functions, and Implications for Practitioners," which carefully and clearly describes recent significant progress that has been made in the understanding of the human visual system. To help ensure that vision rehabilitation practices are based on the most current scientific discoveries, the article also provides detailed descriptions of new neurological and ophthalmic developments that are summarized specifically for professionals in the field of visual impairment and blindness. We are grateful to Dr. Jan for selecting the journal for his final publication and for his prolific work, which has contributed so much to the field of visual impairment and blindness.
