Description of Age-Related Eye Conditions: Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Lecture
This lecture will review current statistics on Americans affected by macular degeneration and future projections on the increase of individuals, due to age, who will become affected. The macular is a highly organized structure with its center part called the fovea that is the high definition point of one vision. The Blood vessels within the eye feeds and nourish the macular located at the center part of the retina. Along with oral medications, vitamins therapeutics, surgical implants, retinal transplantation and stem cell transplantation are used to reduce the risk to progressing of macular degeneration.
