Description of MOTOR FOCUS: Promoting Movement Experiences and Motor Development
Chapter 9 provides additional information on tactile defensiveness and tactile avoidance. Typical motor development of young sighted children is contrasted with that of peers of the same age who have visual impairment. An overview of sensory integration and the impact of visual impairment on it is provided. A section about motor development issues unique to young children with multiple disabilities is also included. Assessment strategies and intervention strategies for promoting motor development are offered as well.
