Description of CVI Focus Webinar 1: Beginning with the Basics
This webinar will provide an overview of CVI. Information will include definitions of CVI, differences between ocular and cortical visual impairments, medical causes of CVI, and a description of the visual and behavioral characteristics associated with CVI. This webinar is the foundation for the information provided in the four additional webinars on CVI.
Dr. Christine Roman-Lantzy is the director of the Pediatric Vision Information and Evaluation or VIEW program, at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh. She is also a private consultant for CVI Resources, teacher of visually impaired students, certified orientation and mobility specialist, infant developmentalist, and CVI Project Leader for the American Printing House for the Blind.
Dr. Roman-Lantzy is a world- renowned author of books and journal articles, and presenter of workshops and lectures on cortical visual impairment, visual assessment, and multiple disabilities. She is the author of the highly popular AFB Press book Cortical Visual Impairment: An Approach to Assessment and Intervention, which was awarded the 2008 Bledsoe Award for outstanding literature in the field of blindness.
