Description of A Comparison of Print and Braille Reading Rates on Three Reading Tasks

A comparison of the reading rates of 24 adult print readers and 23 adult braille readers on three reading tasks—oral reading, silent reading, and studying—found significant differences as a function of reading group and reading task but no group-by-task interaction. The relative closeness of the two groups’ reading rates indicates that some modifications in the use of unlimited time may be necessary to ensure the accuracy of evaluations.
