Search Tips

1. Use the following options to improve your search results:

Any Text: Use Any Text to search for every occurrence of a word or a series of words. Please note the following regarding the Any Text search:

  • The search engine does not recognize hyphens. For hyphenated terms like "deaf-blind," use the Exact Match search.

  • Any Text treats words in a compound word as separate entities. Therefore, when you type in a compound word, the search results will list matches for each word. For precise matches for compound words or phrases such as "residential schools," use the Exact Match search.

Title: Use Title to search for words that appear in chapter titles.

Exact Match: Use Exact Match to search for identical matches, such as compound words or phrases.

2. Do not enclose the word or words you are searching for in quotation marks.

3. After selecting an item from a list of matches in your search results, you will be brought to the first occurrence of the word you searched for within the match you selected. Use the Enter key, not the Tab key, to move to subsequent occurrences of the word.

4. Select Return to Search Results to go back to your original list of matches.
