Dr. Paola Chanes-Mora has nearly a decade of research experience during which she has implemented multiple research designs and conducted both qualitative and quantitative data analysis.

Since joining AFB in 2019 as Policy Research Specialist, she has taken a central role in developing a report for the AbilityOne Commission, and has served as the lead quantitative research analyst for two major studies: the Visually Impaired Seniors’ Independent Travel Opportunities and Resource (VISITOR) project, a two-phase study to learn of the challenges related to healthcare for adults with visual impairments; and the Flatten Inaccessibly study, to learn about how individuals with visual impairments are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to her duties at AFB, Dr. Chanes-Mora is also Founder and President of Operation Unisson, a non-profit organization focused on educating children on public health issues in Haiti, Uganda, and Kenya.

Dr. Chanes-Mora holds a Ph.D. in public health as well as a Master of Public Health from the University of Connecticut. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist and completed her undergraduate education at Boston University.
