Re: blind girl needing friend

hi Abby,

How is it going? Haven't been posting for a while, been doing other things. Took time today to see what was up with you. Hope you are having a good weekend!

Re: blind girl needing friend

I'm not doing much either. Our weather has improved here as well.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hi Abby,

Sounds like our weather is finally going to improve! Otherwise not much going on around here, how about you?

Re: blind girl needing friend

It's hard to explain.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hey Abby.

With Graduation right around the corner, it's good that you have future plans. It is also nice to know some other people that you know are going to the same program. Does the transition program deal with only school related subjects or are other skills included?

Re: blind girl needing friend

After I graduate, I'm going to a transition program which is located in my area. I've already gone there for a tour. I know a couple of students that are going there as well, so I won't be the only new student, from my high school.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hi Abby,

Nothing much going on here either. Putting up with another snow storm, hopefully the last one for this year. What are your plans for after graduation?

Re: blind girl needing friend

Nothing is new. I'm just busy with school.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hey Abby,

How's it going? What's new with you?

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hello ss101,
My weekend is going good so far. I haven't been doing much.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hey Abby,
Well, how are you? I went out for pizza tonight with my family. It was pretty good. Then we played a game of Yahtzee, which I lost. Got Home pretty late. How's your weekend going so far?

Re: blind girl needing friend

Okay.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hi Abby,
I am trying this new stuff out, I am not very tech savvy. In my day the school I went to had one computer and a dial up modem. We had to dial a number and the phone was connected to a teletype. That was our computer and in our day girls took Home-ec and typing and guys took shop class so I don't have much for keyboarding experience. Totally different now in a good way. Have a good weekend.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hello ss101,
Your welcome. Glad I could help.

Re: blind girl needing friend

To Abby and Sporty

I have the I-phone 4, which has SIRI, and cost about $100 and it works excellent for me. However I would like to use the regular computer more so I will check out that web site, Abby. I do have computer access on my phone, which is how I found this web site, but it is quite small and hard to interact sometimes. Thank you both very much, I appreciate the help.

Re: blind girl needing friend

I mean the latest virsion of the i-phone.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hi,
Both of you can use the earliest version of the i-phone. There is a screen reader built in to it. It's awesome! It's the most accessible cell phone for the blind. You can also buy a windows phone wich costs about $500 and you need a screen reader to use it which costs about $200. There is several screen readers you can use for your computer. You can use system access to go which is completely free. If your interested in it just go to www.satogo.com You can also use jaws for windows or window eyes.
Hope this helps!

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hey SS101,
There is a computer program out there called ZoomText that may help you use the computer better. I am not sure how much it costs. I use the program at school and I really like it. You can enlarge the screen and even change the contrast like white on black, which is easier for me to see. I do not have an IPhone or a Kindle because they are hard for me to see. I use a regular cell phone from Sprint that has Voice control on it, so it reads the numbers, options, and who is calling for you. Hope this helps. April

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hi Abby,
Having poor eyesight is kind of new for me, I get help from my wife to use the computer. What type of software and computer do you use that enables you to use it independantly? I have an I-phone but it is sometimes hard to use. I would like to be able to use a regular computer by myself. Do you have any suggestions that might help me? Thanks

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hello ss101,
My day is good so far. My weather is the same. I don't like old country.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hi Abby How is it going today? I usually listen to the older country music, Garth Brooks, Merle Haggard etc. I did listen to a couple of Jason Aldean songs today and I enjoyed those too. They have forecasted more snow for our area, we are still waiting for spring. How is your weather?

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hello ss101,
My favorite country singer is Jason Aldien. I think that's how it's spelt. I went to one of his concerts for my 18th birthday. It was so fun. I'm a city girl. I grew up listening to country music.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hey Abby, It's too bad that you haven't had any pets, when I was growing up we always seemed to have some kind of critter running around. I grew up in a rural area and I live in the country. One of my favorite country singers is Charlie Pride. Do you have a favorite? Are you a country girl or a city girl? Have a good day!

Re: blind girl needing friend

I don't have any pets. I've never had any pets.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hey Abby, We like country music too. I am not on Facebook either, I'm too old for that. Also we have two dogs and a cat, how about you, any pets?

Re: blind girl needing friend

I don't use facebook or any other networks.

Re: blind girl needing friend

I use a CCTV to read books. Right now I am reading London Bridge by James Patterson. I was just wondering if you use any networking sites like Facebook? That could be another place that you could meet friends.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Cool.

Re: blind girl needing friend

ok sounds good. I was taking some classes at a community college, but am on hold right now because I am not sure what I want to do. For hobbies, I like reading fiction like mysteries and adventures. I also like to listen to any kind of music. I am not really a Christian fan but every other kind is good. I also like to swim.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hi April,
I'm not going to college yet. I was held back a year so I'm still a senior in high school. I'm really excited to graduate! To answer your question about my hobbies, I like to listen to music, talk on the phone, read books, and just hang out. I like country and christian music. How about you?

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hi Abby. What do you like to do for fun? ARe you going to college right now?

Re: blind girl needing friend

No. I don't have any major weekend plans. I'm just going to hang out and relax.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hi Abby, Any big weekend plans? We are supposed to get some bad weather again so we aren't going to get too wild. Have a good day!

Re: blind girl needing friend

I'm doing well. We've had a lot of snow here as well.

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hi Abby. How is today going for you? I am doing pretty good, however the weather has not been too cooperative, we got 6 inches of snow in our neck of the woods. We are still waiting for spring. How about you?

Re: blind girl needing friend

Hello ss 101,
I would like to be your friend as well.

Re: blind girl needing friend
