downloading books...

Hi, I'd like to know if there is a website where I can download some books for free, or at least some summaries of books? Most websites are accessible to membrs only, and I do think that reading should be a right for everyone... Please, let me know. I like books on American literature, pedagogical sciences etc. Bey, and have a happy summer break everyone!

I download books for free from BARD NLS or BookShare. Please let me know where you in your state download books and I'll add it to my directory for the blind.

You can also try Project Gutenberg. It's an entire site devoted to free ebooks. Here's a link.

Re:downloading books...

If you are a person with visual impairment or blindness of school age, you may ask your school or vision specialist to help you register with bookshare.org where you can download thousands of books that may be related to school or reading for pleasure. The books can be downloaded in several formats, for use on a computer or other device such as an IPOD or MP3 player. The books can be in digital audio form where you listen to them being read, or they can come to you in large print or Braille. Schools may have minimal costs for registering but they will also be able to get copies of almost all textbooks in any of the formats mentioned. For more details visit Bookshare.org.

Hello,
This is Willie Jammer.
Yes I think there's a website where you can download books.

There you would have to aply for a username and password from your local library.
