Ok I will be the first to add some poems here
All I Ask
All I ask is to be respected as a human being.
All I ask is to have the freedom to do what others do.
All I ask is to NOT be thougt of as less.
All I ask is to show I can do anything.
All I ask is to walk into a shop and not be stared at.
All I ask is to not hear the whispers or snickers.
All I ask is to have the same rights as everyone.
All I ask is to be seen and not be judged.
All I ask for is respect.
It Makes Me Sad
Sighted see us as weird or pity us
We can’t see but we can hear
The snickers or whispers we hear and they hurt sometimes
Not talking to us when we walk by
Moving to the other side to avoid us
Talking so loud it hurts our ears
Seeing our blindness and not who we are
Staring or pointing at us like we can’t sense it
Grabbing our arm then yanking us around
Not remembering respect goes both ways
See or Not See
We don’t see like you do.
We see to the real you.
We don’t see the color of your skin or the disability you may have.
We don’t see how rich or poor you are.
Prejudices don’t matter to us.
We are blessed to see by all of our senses except one.
We see by Touching….Feeling…….Smelling…….Hearing
All you can see by is your eyes.
We Can
We can
Love like you.
Hear the leaves touch the ground.
Feel the soft fur of a kitten or puppy.
Smell the dew on the grass.
Learn how to climb a mountain.
Hurt when we are sad.
Touch your heart if you let us.
Sense a smile.
Yearn to be seen for who we are.
Accepted for what we know.
The one thing we can not do is see by our eyes.

here is a song I wrote I thought you may enjoy it.
If Only I Could See
Nights turn into days and days into nights, but most of my time is spent thinking of the thing I’ve never had. A young child cries when they don’t get their own way, but this is a cry that will eventually die.
To know you can never have what many people have is a constant cry from the heart which will never never die.
People die, people cry, people mourn for the one they love. Every second of every minute of every hour I cry and would die to have the sight I’ve never had. To see a smile, to see the sun, to see my mum or my own reflection in the mirror. I could stand on a tall building and take in the view from above if only if only I could see.
Days turn into weeks and weeks into years, but one thing I’ve learnt time is better spent enjoying the things you have instead. I know I can’t change anything cos this is how it’s meant to be.
An now I know that I can never have what many people have, even though it’s a cry that will never die
People die, people cry, people mourn for the one they love. Every second of every minute of every hour I cry and would die to have the sight I’ve never had. To see a smile, to see the sun, to see my mum or my own reflection in the mirror. I could stand on a tall building and take in the view from above if only if only I could see.
I know inside I’m crying for the sight I’ve never had but outside I’m smiling cos I found the strength I never new I had.
People die, people cry, people mourn for the one they love. Every second of every minute of every hour I cry and would die to have the sight I’ve never had. To see a smile, to see the sun, to see my mum or my own reflection in the mirror. I could stand on a tall building and take in the view from above if only if only I could see.

Posted by jlodeongt on 7/6/2006 at 3:49 PMthose poems were really beautiful. I wrote a song and I think that it would make a good poem too.
Trust Your Heart
When you're all alone and that feeling comes
You have to make a decision
When you're all alone and that feeling goes through
Your body of rythmn
Trust your heart
Trust your heart
Trust your heart and we'll see
You choose
Trust your heart
Trust your heart
Trust you heart and we'll see
When that day does come
And you have to choose
Between two things that you love
When that day does come
And you have to choose
Just look to the man above
Trust your heart
Trust your heart
Trust your heart and we'll see
You choose
Trust your heart
Trust your heart
Trust your heart and we'll see

Posted by chris5565 on 3/18/2006 at 7:28 AMTlavelle, those poems are really beautiful. Very true to life too, I should think. Well written!
The line in the second one "Staring ... at us like we can't sense it" pricked my conscience as a sighted person - if I see a blind person walking by using a white cane, I just can't stop myself gawping, it make my head turn. I know it's insensitive, but I just can't help myself at all, sorry... Because I find it just looks so, so - COOL. Of course, if they looked like they were in difficulty, I would offer to help.

Posted by angelwolf on 2/22/2006 at 12:36 PMTo See or Not to See...That is the Question
To modern men of medicine, to see something to be true...is visual -
something that has feelings of stability...even if is a rock.
To our Creator in Heaven, to see something to be true...is spiritual...something that has feelings of stability...even if it a rock.
So, define...to see.
I myself prefer the spiritual over the visual.
For more times than I can count, most things that can be seen through one's eyes are not true with the heart.
Therefore, stability does not exist.
However, seeing with one's heart in the likeness of our Creator, will forever hold true.
For our Creator IS and FOREVER shall be stable...
God is our rock.
(untitled)
Don't have time to be weak
gotta reach inside to be strong...
don't know what words to speak
to make sure I'm not wrong.
Have had way too many tears
that kept rolling down my face...
am so tired of being scared
need to feel safe in this place.
Need a new plan to survive
God I beg You to help me through...
show me the path that I must take
to find my way to You.
Cause Lord, I can't keep going
Can't fix things by myself anymore...
just point me in Your direction
forgive me of my sins before.
I need you God to hold my hand
I need You to help me 'see' ...
You're all I need to make it
by Your grace I will be free.

Oh! How I hear the sweet echoes of the children; Running, calling, crying, laughing. But all just in the memories locked in my heart. How lovely they still sound, When I close my eyes and go back to the past; A time when they consumed every breathing moment of my life. Oh! Those sweet echoes of the past, There was a time in which, every so often I prayed for a little bit of time to rest from those sweet sounds, which drained me of strength. Tender echoes now turning my loneliness into a time of joy.

Re:Poems
Posted by Wolfbane on 1/21/2006 at 3:11 AMThat was good maybe you should consider becoming a poemist. I write poems but, mine are much darker than this. I talk about the emptiness of smiles, backstabbers in families, liars, hoes that were my girlfreinds, and other things. Cool one though a for effort a plus for courage. You can e-mail me at wolfe.peter@gmail.com maybe we can trade poems and I am also writing a book. I am getting someone to illustrate it for me.
