Expanding possibilities for people with vision loss

4 year child recently diagnosed with pediatric cataracts

Hi, my 4 year was recently diagnosed with pediatric cataracts . He is getting surgery to remove next month. We got two opinions and decided to go to children's hospital of Philadelphia. The surgery will most likely not help with his blind right eye but there is always hope. My question is, how rare us this? There isn't much on the web about it. Also, is eye muscle surgery guaranteed to help fix his lazy eye? It's a separate surgery we will do in future if its worth it. I didn't get as far as I wanted with his doctor at CHOP. This is still very raw for my husband and I. I would take my vision In my eye and give it to him.
