Re: anyone have retinopathy of prematurity?

I started having problems driving at nite in my forties; Then when I turned 50 I had trouble doing data entry on the computer. I was missing numbers, etc. Then I went thru chemo for breast cancer and that seemed to worsen my eyesight even more. I have blind spots in field of vision. And have trouble navigating crowds. Docs say it’s hereditary.

Words me thing,
Thanks for the info. I'll check it out.
I know what rop is. I was just curious if anyone here had it.

retinopathy of prematurity?

In the '50s, blind children made up a larger percentage of the blind population than is true today. That was largely because doctors started saving babies from death by giving them oxygen and saving smaller and smaller birth-weight children who were born more and more premature.
Many of these children ended up with ROP with no light perception at all.
I know nothing about the state of premature and low birth-weight babies today.
A link on the AFB HomePage is called "Eye Conditions". There will be information about ROP on there. Also you can type your eye condition into the AFB search box on the HomePage and find further information.

Hey Steave,
What's Glocoma? I think I spelled that rright. I've heard of it before, but I haven't asked about what it is.

I just have Glaucoma since I was born. Nothing in my right eye at all. (Like it aint even there o: )

I would be totally blind if it weren't for doctors. Really nice ones here in Pittsburgh.
