How do blind unemployed single homeowners get financial and general household help?

As a single legaly blind type 1 diabetic. I have been forced into living on a social security disability income of $740.00 a month. I own my own home, live alone and am trying (by giving up all I once had to keep my house) There is no financial help available for us. No free labor and it is becomming increaseingly difficult to maintain this house. I have no desire to sell or live in government housing that would be the pits. This disease has caused me unbelieveable problems and it appears there is no help for legally blind type 1 diabetics with anything. I manage very well to take insulin and check blood sugars but what about other problems?????????

Hi: I am working on a project to help deaf and blind people make some extra money (my daughter is deaf and she is friends with a deaf blind person). We live in Minnesota. What State do you live in and how are you making out?

It's funny, I was just browsing the web for a solution to a similar problem. Hello,

I found your web site here (http://www.dreamcatchersusa.org/). I am a blind individual who has always worked and supported his family, but our public transportation system has paved me into a corner and I am unable to afford to get me and my family out of my house and close to my work place. Part of the problem is that my wife has had health issues for a few years now that has minimized her ability to work as well. I have to risk my life too often to walk almost a mile to a bus stop in the dark and any weather. I live a long way from work, with a bus that takes two hours and a long transfer. My direct commute resigned a year ago, so I've been trying to get by. I don't know what to do anymore, but I'm hanging in there as long as I last.

I can appreciate your dellimma, seems there are not willing soles to aid those who are willing to help their self. I lost my vision in 2002 and have been surviving on $808 per month. Maybe you can find a local blind services agency to help you start your own small business do you have formal training and or education?

You can find a great deal of information at JAN http://www.jan.org, not sure it can address your financial concerns regarding your home. You may need to take in a roomate if this is possible or find a from of work you can do from home to help make a difference.

As we often say here " We may have lost our eyesight but we have not lost our vision" and remember " Success begins with you". My site is http://cljconsulting.net

Good Luck
