Re:how does it feel to be blind

Hi --- I lost one of my eyes as a 3 year old boy. So I try to be careful with my other eye.

But I did want to post a question. I doing research for a movie screenplay I'm working on and I am looking for a few people to interview on their experience. I am not planning on using their experiences - i just want to better understand the pros and cons.

If you're interested or know someone who's interested, please contact me at my hotmail account:

Hi everyone my name is theresa
I am a psychology major and I need a little help in answering my teachers question. If you had a choose between losing one of your six sense. name the one that you could live without. The reason I am on this sight is because i would choose to lose my sight. Because my hearing is very sharp now. Does anyone agree that your hearing increased with your sight lost?

Re:how does it feel to be blind

the other replies were on target . every person is unique in capabilities and attitude .
your boyfreind is the expert on his needs , wants , and current capabilities .
other persons will have different needs and attitudes . if you want the answers that are correct , you should ask him , the expert on him , for the answers .and if he becomes impatient , or angry , or ashamed , then he has another issue to deal with besides blindness .

Looking for advice

My son who is 18 months is wearing a shell for the first time. he seems very uncomfortable. What can I expect and do to alleviate the discomfort.

Re:how does it feel to be blind

I have been blind all my life. Though I have developed my senses so that they are a great deal sharpened, I don't know how to explain it.
It just is.
You learn to pick up on other things other than vissual cues.
It's different for everybody, and some of it depends on how much you can see.
I have light perception, but I can't read print. I use braille, and speach for my computer.
Ask your boy friend. He probably will not be offended.
The more you know, the better team you will make.

Re:how does it feel to be blind

Hi.....I've just gone blind. I woke up on Oct 27th and my life went dark. So I'm new to this. Anyway it's realy hard to explain what it's like...I think some of your boyfriends fealings depend on if he can see anything at all. I my case I case see a few shapes as long as they are against a light background. If he's been blind his whole life so he's a little more used to it or he's new to it, it pretty well sucks. If you close your eyes and see nothing but black and try to
sothing (anything) then thats what it's like. You cant tell it someone walks up next to you or your dog or cat walks up to you untill you hear a noise. You can't see the tv, you just mostly listen. It's very scary, but you cope, you learn and you make the best of what you have. I have a wonderfull husband that has helped me so much. I'm sure if you ask your boyfriend about his blindness he will be glad to tell you whatever you want to know. I'ts not a bad subject not to be talked about or anything, as far as I know. Personally even though I want to try to do as much stuff as I can for myself I can always use a little help and its nice to know even if no one can do anything to help that they are just there, even if just to have someone to talk to. You sound like a nice person to try to help. Hang in there, I'm sure he will appreciate your friendship and love. I hope this helped a little. Tina
