Expanding possibilities for people with vision loss

sharing my journel with others

in February 2016 I experienced a significant loss of vision due to the progression of macular degeneration. Since that time a dear friend and I have been documenting my journey and what we have learned. There are a wide variety of topics. We are hopeful that my experiences and Linda's research will be helpful to others. Best wishes, Sue

I just want to update the information that I posted. We now have a Facebook page to go along with our website. It's a closed group & I'll protect your privacy as best I can. Please go to this page for all the details and instructions. Let me know if there is a problem.

Re: sharing my journel with others

I'm back! Actually, the reason we collect email addresses is not to tell a human from a spammer (although it is checked for that) but we send email notifications out when the website changes. We make a lot of changes as Sue adds new journal pages & I write new posts about a wide ragne of subjects.
There is really no other way we can do what we want to do.
I hope you'll feel comfortable enough to follow us using your email address. One thing I did to make sure my important emails are protected was to create an email account for newsletters & such and that is all it is used for. If it is compromised (luckily I've never had that happen), I'd not be harmed.

Re: sharing my journel with others

wordsmithing, thanks for your post. I really wish I had another way of verifying but I don't think that I do, unfortunately. The methods for what is available are defined by the method used to create a website. I WILL look into it and get back to you. Your email address is NEVER SHOWN on the website, it comes only to me. I have a very effective way of dodging an attack on the website but you never know as you say.
I'll get back to you.

asking for people's email address if they are to access your website

Your idea for a journal is excellent. It will certainly help you. It may well help others.
Is it possible for you to find a way of verifying people as being human and not spammers other than asking them to enter an email address into your site. In these times of mounting security concerns, people may be hessitant to put their email address on the web for fear of email harvesters, spam and possible virus attacks. Perhaps you can use the kind of verification AFB uses where the person has to spell a word to prove they are human and not a machine.
All kinds of good luck to you.
