Expanding possibilities for people with vision loss

Free Video Description Available

My name is Carmen Branje. I research video description at the Center
for Learning Technology at Ryerson University. We are about to launch
a new web based video description system that will allow blind and
low vision audiences to access description through the web and we are
looking for volunteer describers to test the first version of the
system. We are wondering if you would be interested in a
presentation regarding our new system and/or possible participation by some
of your members.

Participation would involve creating video description by downloading our free tool LiveDescribe
(available for Windows only currently), downloading a copyright free
film or video from or another source, importing that video
into LiveDescribe, describing the video, then publishing our
description to our servers. Blind users would then be able to surf to
our page, download your descriptions and enjoy them.

Please let me know if you'd be interested in this, as well if you know
of other describers who would be interested in participating.

Thanks very much for your interest.
