Has anybody purchased and used the EVAS Guide system for home use? If so, I'd be interested to hear of your personal experiences with this system. It sounds promising for someone without a lot of PC experience.

hi, an program that is inexpensive and relatively easy to learn that only does e-mail and browsing and notepad on xp is called "home page reader" by IBM for $150 and can be purchased from IBM or numerous retailers like "independent living aids inc" this program both magnifies and or speaks the content so you don't need a video monitor.

I use ZoomText from AI Squared (www.aisquared.com). I began facing a rapid loss of my eye sight to MD in April 2007. I work in the financial service industry and deal with many documents, 100+ emails, and numerous spreadsheets daily. I was very frustrated, but found ZoomText made things much easier. It has two versions - a magnifier and a magnifier/reader. I use the later. It is easy to use and have not yet found a windows application it does not work with.

Good luck. There is amazing help out there.

Hi, My brother in law has macular degeneration. Emails and working on computer are difficult for him, he is getting worse and needs a program that puts a voice to email and web browsing, any suggestions for programs that provide this capability?
