LIFE HACK FOR LOW VISION AND BLIND PEOPLE

Hey everyone,

LOW VISION GUY here. Hope all of you are doing well and enjoying this awesome Spring weather!! I wanted to share a life hack from someone who has low vision.

Ever since I was born, I have always have low vision and always been insecure about it. Their are many challenges that come with it, however, every now and then, I get a little creative on how to deal with it ;)

I am a pretty sociable guy and creature of habit. I have my places that I go to on a regular basis and as a result, people now me by name. I walk into a place and people that are working there are like, "hey DeMarco, How are you DeMarco" Of course, I reply with fine and yourself. The one thing that I hate is that they all know my name, but I do not know their names. Not that I do not care, but because I can't see or read their name tags that they are wearing, I do not say their names.

I am still struggling with low vision so I don't bother asking, until...

I noticed years ago that after every transaction with every cashier, they would ask me if I wanted the receipt, and I would always reply with "no" Why would I need it if I am just going to throw it away.

When I had nothing else to read, I looked at the receipts I did have in my wallet, I did not noticed that every receipt had the names of all the cashiers that serviced me. I though, AWESOME!!!! I can know see their names and not make it look or seem awkward why I can't read their name tags.

Now, after every purchase I ask for the receipt and secretly scan the receipt for their names. When my food or drinks are ready, I simply say.."Thank you NAME" ;))

THE LOW VISION GUY
