Free webcasts for professional development
The web site of the Perkins School for the Blind features a number of webcasts that are available free of charge and can be watched for professional development points and continuing education credits. Topics range from adapted physical education; accessible life science lessons; CHARGE syndrome; child-guided assessment; emergent literacy for children, including those with multiple disabilities; families partnering with the educational team; and social skills and sex education. Presented by the most recognized educators in the field, the webcasts not only share a wealth of information on important topics, individuals needing to earn continuing education credits to recertify with the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals or earn professional development points can do so by completing short tests following the webcasts.
