Activity: Be the Historian (For Teachers)

Here are some ways you can extend this lesson on using primary sources. Customize these ideas based on your course curriculum or class interests.

1. Writing assignment using primary sources to write people with disabilities back into history (see worksheet).
2. Ask students to select 2-3 documents from the Helen Keller archive on a subject of your or their choosing. Have them write an “update” to their classroom textbook using evidence they find in their primary sources.
