AFB Scholars Program Opens Doors to Success
This past January, the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) announced its newly formed AFB Scholars Program, which will offer a new series of sizable scholarships for legally blind undergraduate and graduate students across the country for the 2025-2026 school year.
“These new scholarships will make it possible to turn the dreams of many exceptional students who are blind into a tangible reality,” said Eric Bridges, AFB president and CEO.
The AFB Scholarship Program, made possible through the generous support of the Lulu J. Alonso Scholarship Fund, provides substantial awards—up to $8,000 for community college students, $20,000 for undergraduate students, and $28,000 for graduate students. Recipients will also have access to successful blind professionals as mentors and have the opportunity to attend AFB’s annual Leadership Conference. These scholarships are offered in addition to AFB’s existing awards presented in partnership with the American Council of the Blind (ACB). Scholarship recipients will be announced in June.
